More Cup of Coffe Progress!

The 'final' sequences aren't really finished in my opinion. I wanted to clean up the lines more and add some more frames to smooth out the choppy bits, but I wasn't able to do it in time. Oh well. I think I'll keep working on them though. I'd like to see them all finished and pretty.

So here they are, in all their unfinished glory:

And now here's some more progress work that I haven't uploaded yet:

I did these little sketches based on a video I took of myself to help me animate the part in the first sequence where he pushes away from the table. I also took other reference videos of myself, but I'm not going to upload them here.

In the second sequence, the character from the first sequence makes an appearance, but it's not really clear that it's the first character. Alan suggested maybe I give the first guy a bowtie so we know it's him. This is me trying that out, but I didn't really have enough time to properly put the bowtie on him through the whole video, so I left it out. That's not to say the bowtie won't come back if I finish up the animations, I'll have to see how it all looks.

I think that's it for now. :)

Cup of Coffee Progress

I made an animatic/rough animation for the 2nd video, a person in a bad mood drinking a good cup of coffee. I got a bit tired in the middle so it gets a little more choppy, so I'll have to go in and fix those parts.

The guy from the first video makes a cameo at the end, I have to find a way to make sure the audience knows it's that guy and not just a random character, which I made difficult for myself because the two characters have the same design. I was thinking I could colour the characters, just fill him in with a light pink or green or something, then the bad mood guy could have a different colour. That way you know who is who.

This one is about 5 seconds longer than the good mood/bad coffee video, I don't know why 5 more seconds of animation is scaring me little. It's really not that much more work.

I also started to clean up the lines for the first video. It's slow going.

Cup of Coffee Progress

First I started with writing down the ideas that came to mind when I thought of the prompts "person in a good mood drinking a bad cup of coffee" and "person in a bad mood drinking a good cup of coffee"

I also did some quick sketches of the character. I wanted to keep it really simple so I could focus on the body language and not be distracted with clothes/hair/etc.

I made a character turnaround, even though I felt like it was maybe unnecessary because he's so simple.

First I did a quick storyboard of the person in a good mood drinking a bad cup of coffee. In order to keep it simple and fun, I have magical coffee appearing on the table out of midair.

Then I did a quick storyboard of the person in a bad mood drinking a good cup of coffee, also with magically spawning coffee cups.

I made an animatic/rough animation for the good mood drinking bad coffee. I still have to polish it at the end a little.
